The over-hyped technology in late 2011 it was perhaps Apple’s Siri, their voice recognition/information application for the iPhone 4s. So, if you are craving Siri like functionality for Windows Phone 7 platform, the Ask Ziggy app is answer that goes beyond Siri functionality.

The Ask Ziggy has developed by Shai Leib. It’s free (and even ad-free) program that can “translate human speech into transcribed text”. You can Call, Text, Email your contacts, Update Windows Live, Facebook, and Twitter, Get Weather, Stock Values, Flight Statuses, Get Ziggy to do Math, or ask any question you want all by speaking to your phone.

Just Ask Ziggy a question, and you will hear a response out loud. You can also click on your speech bubble to search the web directly for your question.

Here are some tips:

Directions – “Find” + [search word]. For Example. “Find Thai Food”, “Find Gas”, etc…

Flight Status – say “Flight” + [airline] + [flight number]. For Example. “Flight Jet Blue 234″.

Stock Prices – say [company name] + “stock value”. For Example: “Starbucks stock value”. You can try to substitute a company name with the Ticker symbol such as “MSFT” for “Microsoft”.

Weather – say “The weather In [location]“. For example “The Weather in New York City” or substitute another city names.

Tip Calculator and other simple math – say “Calculate” + [operation]. For example: For a tip calculation say “calculate point 2 times 47 point 99″ for 20% of $47.99. Other examples are “5 + 3″, “100 ÷ 3″, “10 – 5″, etc…

You can view search results for all your questions by clicking on your speech bubble at any time.

You can make Ziggy repeat any time by clicking on Ziggy’s speech bubble.

You can also change Ziggy’s voice in the settings page.

Just ask away. See some examples below.

Many iPhone 3GS owners were concerned about their device can run Apple’s new Siri feature or not. Although Apple has not given this awesome feature to any iOS device other than the new iPhone 4S. Now, the developers have successfully ported Siri to a iPhone 3GS by the same hacking pros (Steven Troughton-Smith included) that got her going on the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G. Not only does Siri work on the older model iPhone, but the device also is able to connect to Apple servers.

Take look at the video to see the Siri UI runs quite neatly on iPhone 3GS and also connects to Apple servers. No details about the release of this hack have been revealed yet.

Apple’s iPhone 4 is not officially support the Siri voice command system, but the folks at 9to5 Mac has been showing the iPhone 4 with Siri voice command system, thanks to the efforts of developer Steven Troughton-Smith.

Troughton-Smith was able to get the beginning steps of a full port rolling after installing the iPhone 4S Siri and Springboard files onto an iPhone 4. As you can see in the video below, it’s far from perfect, but it can recognize spoken commands. The only issue at this point is that Apple is not authenticating commands to its servers from iPhone 4 hardware. The iPhone 4 hardware can support the Siri voice command system, as the A4 processor is said to be powerful enough.

Check out a newer YouTube video showing off some seriously smooth scrolling action after the break.
